Eddie & the Hot Rods (UK)

1975 –

Eddie and the Hot Rods were formed in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, in 1975 by guitarist Dave Higgs with singer Barrie Masters, drummer Steve Nicol and bassist Rob Steele. Arriving in the closing days of pub rock, they played a faster and wilder take on the same bluesy three-chord foundation as Dr. Feelgood and helped usher in British punk. Their single Do Anything You Wanna Do, written by manager Ed Hollis and guitarist Graeme Douglas, reached number 9 in the UK in 1977. The band split in 1985 and reformed in 1996, with Masters the one constant until his death in 2019.
