The Polecats (UK)

1977 –

British rockabilly band formed in north London in 1977, first as the Cult Heroes and renamed The Polecats when the old name proved too punk for the rockabilly circuit. Tim Worman on vocals, Martin 'Boz' Boorer on guitar and vocals, Phil Bloomberg on bass and Chris Hawkes on drums, who was later replaced by Neil Rooney and then John Buck. Signed by Nervous Records for the 1979 single Rockabilly Guy and by Mercury in 1980 for Polecats Are Go!, they charted with covers of David Bowie's John, I'm Only Dancing and T. Rex's Jeepster, and are among the bands that carried the early eighties British rockabilly revival.
