Clem Sacco (IT)

1933 – 2024 In memoriam

Italian singer and songwriter, born Clemente Sacco in Cairo to Italian parents and raised in Milan from 1952. A forerunner of Italian comic rock, he wrote the boogie Agnese Rock in 1961 and founded C.S.R., one of the first independent record labels in Italy; the same year the deliberately silly O mama, voglio l'uovo a la coque became a jukebox hit and got him branded too much for television. In 1962 he formed Clem Sacco ed i suoi Califfi with the guitarists Gino Santercole and Gigi Rizzi and the drummer Enrico Maria Papes. He moved to Tenerife in the 1980s, was brought back to Italian television in 2002 and died there in 2024.
