Phương Tâm (VN)

One of the first singers to perform and record rock and roll in Vietnam, known there as nhạc kích động, or action music. Still a teenager, she reached the top billings of Saigon's nightclub stages and recorded almost thirty known tracks between 1964 and 1966 for the city's three main record companies, backed by electric guitars, double bass, drums, brass, saxophone, piano, organ and backing vocals. Her work was gathered in 2021 on the retrospective Magical Nights — Saigon Surf, Twist & Soul (1964-1966), compiled by Mark Gergis with her daughter Hannah Hà after the family rediscovered her career.
