Robert Gordon & Darrel Higham
More info
"Robert Gordon is the real deal" - Jerry Lee Lewis For lovers of traditional rock and roll it does not get any better than this. Two of the genre's most significant artists have joined forces in a way that leaves nobody cold. Robert Gordon (USA) needs no introduction. Long before the Stray Cats, Gordon was making rockabilly known alongside the guitarists Link Wray and Chris Spedding. Robert Gordon's songs Red Hot and Rockabilly Boogie were hits, and artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Iggy Pop wrote songs for him. In 1981 Gordon starred in the film The Loveless alongside the actor Willem Dafoe. Gordon has never settled for compromise over the course of his career, and at 72 he is still on form. His latest recording, made in Austin, Texas, recalls the sound of his first album from 1977: Gordon's deep, resonant baritone still rings out handsomely and convincingly. The new record features a guest appearance by Pete Townshend of The Who, and new material will be heard at the Savoy Theatre. Gordon has teamed up with the British guitarist Darrel Higham, known for his distinctive guitar sound. Higham has worked with Jeff Beck and Imelda May, among others. Gordon and Higham's earlier joint tour drew glowing reviews. The chemistry between the two artists is impossible to miss, and it is a fine thing to see both musicians at their very best. The show takes in classics such as The Way I Walk, C'mon Everybody and Rockabilly Boogie. To all lovers of good music: welcome to a fine rockabilly evening in the company of Robert Gordon and Darrel Higham!
