Billed by the promoters as Our Show Of Stars, the fifth Hot Rock 'n' Boogie was the edition that nearly did not happen: the organisers had intended to stop after #4 and reversed the decision once that weekend began. JG & The Ultimates opened the Friday night pre-party, adapting Jimmy Liggins' 1949 Nite Life Boogie into Hot Rock n Boogie Number Five for the occasion. The international bill drew acts from France, Germany and Switzerland, and the DJ roster ran across both halls. Weekend tickets were 80 pounds, with the Friday pre-party 10 pounds when bought with a weekend pass.
