We're stoked to announce we are playing at this event! Gates open 12 noon. Music from 1-9pm. All ages event. Food and drink vendors onsite. Children's entertainment. Entry is a gold coin donation to Capalaba Rotary Club. Peaches & The ALPHASONICS venacular is authentic, up-tempo, swinging Jump Blues. The raw musical styling that black artists brought to the 40’s and 50’s, the precursor to the Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll and Soul music of later decades. Think the growls of a young Etta James and a sassy LaVern Baker mixed with the early guitar stylings of a Guitar Slim or Johnny “Guitar” Watson and the driving, good-time rhythm of an upright doghouse bass and drums. “When they up some wild riffs it ain’t no sin to take off your skins and dance around in your bones.” ‡ The Jives Of Dr. Hepcat” by Lavada Durst 1953 “Dr. Hepcat”, was a highly successful DJ out of Austin, Texas. Durst spun platters in the 1940’s and 1950’s, called Negro League baseball games, and mastered his own brand of “jive.”
