The Minnesota Voodoo Men (Japan) + The Thunderbeats (Russia). Thursday 20 February. Doors: 21:00. The Minnesota Voodoo Men formed in Tachikawa, near Fussa (Japan's garage-rock capital), in 1998, beginning with covers of garage, surf and British beat in samurai style; in 1999 came their first LP 'I Keep Shaking My Head' and first single 'Too Much Texas Driver' on DeckRec Records, earning them a name in Japan and Europe. After a drummer change, in 2006 they released a second album, 'Beat Explosion' (29 tracks), on Radio Underground, cementing them as a leading Japanese band and taking them on tour across Asia alongside acts like The A-Bones, The Mummies and The Neatbeats. Their move to Europe came via the German label Soundflat. They are considered one of the most exciting acts in Japanese rock and roll. The Thunderbeats grew up escaping the collapse of the USSR through the music of Bo Diddley, The Rolling Stones, The Troggs and The Animals. In 2006 the band got to work, first building their analogue studio with tape machines and vintage gear, then releasing their records, and are now on their third.
