Every second weekend in August, the little town of Symco, WI comes roaring to life in a celebration unlike any other. For years, traditional hot rods and kustoms from around the Midwest have gathered together on the Unionville Thresheree grounds to step back in time. Behind them, they pull Shasta and Scottie campers loaded with vintage luggage. The roof racks are strapped with mid-century Rollfast and ColorFlo bicycles. Our extended family comes together in a very unique setting. The Union Thresherman's Club was formed back in the days when Symco was still known as Union. It was in this setting that Larry Werth started building the little town of Unionville along the banks of the picturesque Little Wolf River. In 2017 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Symco UTC . The half century of hard work that has passed is a testament to the Werths and the UTC, and their commitment to preserving history. The Union town hall, built in 1896, was transferred to its current location where it is known today as The Unionville Saloon. Various buildings that are now spread throughout the town were relocated from around Waupaca County. The new structures such as the blacksmith shop and the entrance barn were built from lumber cut from the working saw mill on the grounds. These buildings are filled with antiques, equipment, and advertising from a simpler time. Oversized display barns feature dozens of running vintage tractors and some of the largest Fairbanks-Morse engines operating today. Overlooking all of this is the bridge that once spanned the Little Wolf River on Hwy 22 in front of the grounds. Each summer, the rumble of open headers and the sounds of rockabilly fill the air. The smell of delicious food drifts on the breeze, past the gear heads tuning their mini bikes for the drags on the dirt track. Fellas enjoy a cold PBR while their gals browse through vendors and look at new attire for the pin-up contest. Guys wander the swap meet in search of that illusive final piece for their current build. From the vintage camping area comes the laughter of families cooling off in the river. This unique setting provides the backdrop for the most anticipated annual event in the Midwest . The Staff of Symco Hotrods & Kustoms, united with the UTC, are proud to be continuing what we have achieved here over the years. We look forward to sharing this special place with generations to come. Symco Hotrod & Kustom Weekender would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers and the UTC staff who donate their time to help make this weekend special. Without them, we could not put on this show. We are also very grateful for the support from multiple car clubs in Wisconsin and surrounding states. This many clubs united to keep this show alive only adds to the unique nature of our event.
