Little Brave - Eddie Smalling

Little Brave

Eddie Smalling

(Smalling, DELTA 45-555, 1960)

There on the reservation, there lived an Indian Brave
He loved his little maiden, but she lived far away

And each night in his teepee, he could almost hear her say
I love you little darling and I'll be your Indian maid

His father was a big chief, his mother was a princess firm
But still his heart was heavy, for he missed his maiden dirn

Well Little Brave was unhappy, and he wandered everywhere
For he missed his only lover, with her long black lovely hair

He kneeled down in his teepee and said a little prayer
He prayed to his great spirits to send his lover there

And each night in his teepee, he could almost hear her say
I love you little darling and I'll be your Indian maid

He could see her in the moonlight, the wind would whisper her name
So he told his big chief father he'd wed her in the spring

And on the reservation, the spring had finally came
He took his little maiden and he gave to her his name

And that night in his teepee he really heard her say
I love you little darling, 'cause I'm now your Indian maid
