Memphis Recording Service opens at 706 Union Avenue
Sam Phillips opened his own studio at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, two years before he had a label to put records out on. He began by recording local blues artists, among them B.B. King and Howlin' Wolf. The room is the one the world came to know as Sun Studio.
