The Platters (US)
American vocal group from Los Angeles, managed and largely written for by Buck Ram, whose 'Only You (And You Alone)', 'The Great Pretender' and 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes' crossed from the rhythm and blues chart to the top of the pop chart. They toured Australia for Lee Gordon in January 1957 on the Big Show with Bill Haley and His Comets, LaVern Baker and Big Joe Turner.
