On 4 November 1957 he released the single "Two timin' woman"/"I need your love" on ABC-Paramount (45-9860).
In 1958 the man who had discovered him, Joe Carlton, left ABC-Paramount and set up a new record label, Carlton, taking Jack Scott with him.
On 14 April 1958 he released the single "Leroy" (dedicated to a friend)/"My true love" (Carlton 462). The single was a big chart success.
On 8 September he released the single "Geraldine" (with a catchy, repetitive chorus — the name Geraldine is repeated as many as 94 times) with "With your love" on the B side (Carlton 483)
On 17 November came the single "Save my soul" (a gospel-type number)/"Goodbye baby" (a lovely ballad), Carlton 493. In February 1959 two tracks were released, his version of the Chuck Willis song "What am I livin' for" and "Go wild little sadie", which appeared on an EP together with "I never felt like this"/"Bella" (recorded on 2 March 1959).
On 1 June 1959 he recorded "The Way I walk"/"Midgie" (Carlton 514).
On 14 September he released "There comes a time"/"Baby Marie" (Carlton 519), which was his last single for the Carlton label.
On 7 December he released the single "Baby baby"/"What's in the world's come over you" on Top Rank (RA-2028).
On 28 March 1960 he released a single that reached number 1 in the charts, "Burning Bridges"/"Oh little one" (Top Rank RA-2041), followed on 11 July by "Cool Water"/"It only happened yesterday", on 3 October by "Old time religion"/"Patsy" (RA 2075), and on 5 December by "Found a woman"/"Is there something on your mind" (Ra 2093). In 1961 he joined Capitol, where he recorded several singles:
- "Now that I" / "A little feeling called love" (17 April 1961, Capitol 4554).
- "Strange Desire" / "My dream come true" (17 July 1961, Capitol 4597).
- "One of these days" / "Steps one and two" (2 October 1961, Capitol 4637),
- "Grizzyly bear" / "Cry cry cry" (2 January 1962, Capitol 4689).
- "You only see what you wanna see" / "The part where I cry" (14 April 1962, Capitol 4738).
- "If only" / "green green valley" (13 October 1962, Capitol 4855).
- "Laughs and the worlds laughs with you" / "Strangers" (10 January 1963, Capitol 4903).
- "Meo Myo" / "All I see is blue" (20 April 1963, Capitol 4955).
In December 1963 he moved to the Groove label, where he also recorded several singles:
- "There's trouble brewin'" / "Jingle bells slide" (7 December 1963, Groove 58-0027).
- "I knew you first" / "Blue skies" (18 January 1964, Groove 58-0031).
- "Wiggle on out" / "what a wonderful night out" (11 April 1964, Groove 58-0037).
- "Thou salt not steal" / "I prayed for an angel" (August 1964, Groove 58-0042).
- "Flakey John" / "Tall Tales" (1965, Groove 58-0049)
Later he moved to RCA, where he released the following singles:
- "I don't believe in tea leaves" / "Separation's now granted" (January 1965, RCA 47-8505).
- "I hope, I think, I wish" / "Looking for Linda" (1966, RCA 47-8685).
- "Don't hush the laughter" / "Let's learn to live and love again" (RCA 47-8724)
In 1967 he released a single for the Jubilee label with the tracks "My special angel" / "I keep changing my mind" (JB 5606)
