Six-Five Special debuts on BBC Television
The BBC's first programme aimed at the rock and roll audience went out on Saturdays at 6.05pm, which gave it its name. Produced by Jack Good and Josephine Douglas and presented by Douglas with disc jockey Pete Murray, it ran for 96 editions and gave British teenagers their first regular televised showcase for the music.
