Ubangi Stomp

Rockabilly and American roots weekender staged in Benidorm, on the Spanish Costa Blanca, by the promoter American Roots Promotion. The first edition ran at the Hotel Ambassador Playa in November 2006; from the second edition onwards it was held at the Gran Hotel Bali, billed on its own posters as the tallest hotel in Europe, with the concerts, DJ rooms and stalls all inside the hotel. Editions ran in late October or November until 2013 and moved to April from the ninth edition in 2015. The bills combined 1950s American recording artists - among them Sid King, Ray Sharpe, Alton Lott, Huelyn Duvall, Royce Porter, Mike Waggoner and George Tomsco - with European rockabilly, rhythm and blues and hillbilly acts, alongside DJ sessions running through the night. The tenth edition, in April 2016, was billed as the tenth anniversary party. No later edition has been located in the sources reviewed.
