Australian rock 'n' roll singer, the first local rocker to break through nationally. He and his band the Dee Jays were engaged at short notice for Lee Gordon's October 1957 Big Show after Gene Vincent's Blue Caps were offloaded at Honolulu, backing the American acts and playing their own spot — the tour that launched his career.
