Big Joe Turner (US)
American blues shouter from Kansas City, born in 1911, whose 1954 recording of 'Shake, Rattle and Roll' for Atlantic was covered by Bill Haley and His Comets and became one of the doors through which rhythm and blues walked into rock and roll. He and Haley shared the bill on Lee Gordon's Australian Big Show in January 1957. He died in 1985.
