A stop on 'The Biggest Show of Stars for '57', the autumn edition of Irvin Feld's touring package - booked across 28 states and five Canadian provinces for some 80 performances - at the Paramount Theater in Portland on Tuesday 22 October 1957. Two shows, at 7.00 and 9.30 pm. The Portland window card survives and is the best single document of this leg of the tour: it bills 'Fats Domino and his Orchestra', LaVern 'Jim Dandy' Baker, Frankie Lymon 'Goody Goody', Chuck Berry 'Schooldays', Clyde McPhatter 'Long, Lonely Nights', the Crickets 'That'll Be The Day', the Everly Bros 'Bye, Bye, Love', Eddie Cochran, Buddy Knox 'Party Doll', the Drifters, Jimmy Bowen and the Rhythm Orchids, Harold Cromer as M.C. and Paul Anka 'Diana', plus Paul Williams and his Big Orchestra. Tickets were $2.00, $2.75 and $3.50, on sale at J. K. Gill. Cochran also appeared on KPTV's 'High Time' in Portland that day. Eddie Cochran had joined the tour on 15 October in Los Angeles, with Buddy Knox and Jimmy Bowen. The travelling cast was headed by Fats Domino and his orchestra, with Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, the Everly Brothers, LaVern Baker, Clyde McPhatter, the Drifters, Frankie Lymon and Paul Anka, compered by Harold Cromer and backed throughout by Paul Williams and his orchestra.
