It has never been Pokey LaFarge's way to limit himself to a single genre. The songwriter from Illinois has been travelling the world for years, and his songs are a collection of what he comes across on his many wanderings. A good sniff of jazz, a streak of bluesy bluegrass and a dose of ragtime go into the blender without complexes alongside chanson, cumbia, swing and waltz. The only thing that counts for Pokey LaFarge is authenticity. Everything he makes comes straight from the heart, from the lived-in, intelligent lyrics to the irresistible groove in the music. Pokey's inimitable musical talent has earned him a host of devoted fans among press and public alike, in Europe as well as the US. White Stripes frontman Jack White discovered Pokey LaFarge early on and promptly signed him to his own label Third Man Records. Pokey LaFarge is an artist who keeps evolving, with the acclaimed Manic Revelations (2017) as the high point so far. In 2018 Pokey LaFarge turned De Roma completely upside down, so we are delighted that he is coming back to Borgerhout next year.
