Great Yarmouth Rock 'n' Roll Weekender

Pioneering British rock'n'roll holiday-camp weekender run by Showstopper Promotions in the Great Yarmouth area of Norfolk from 1979, billed as the 'International Rock 'n' Roll Weekend Hop'. The first seven editions were held at Ladbrokes Caister Holiday Centre; from the 8th edition (October 1982) it moved a mile up the coast to Ladbrokes Seashore Holiday Village at North Denes, Great Yarmouth. Its inaugural edition (2-4 March 1979, headlined by Ray Campi & His Rockabilly Rebels) was partly filmed in Curtis Clark's 1980 documentary 'Blue Suede Shoes'. A separate, competing weekender later ran at nearby Hemsby; the two are distinct events. Not to be confused with the Caister Soul Weekender.
