More info

Landmark rhythm and blues concert promoted by Alan Freed, Leo Mintz and Lew Platt at Cleveland Arena on 21 March 1952. Often described as the first major rock and roll concert, the event drew far more people than the arena could hold and was stopped early because of severe overcrowding. The advertised bill featured Paul Williams and His Hucklebuckers, Tiny Grimes and the Rocking Highlanders, The Dominoes, Varetta Dillard and Danny Cobb.
