A date on Lee Gordon's Big Show, the package that brought Bill Haley and His Comets to Australia in January 1957, at the West Melbourne Stadium in Melbourne from Monday 21 January 1957 to Wednesday 23 January 1957 - two shows each night, a second Melbourne run. Haley headlined a bill with the Platters, LaVern Baker, Big Joe Turner, and Freddie Bell and the Bell Boys. It was the first time most Australians had seen an American rock and roll act in the flesh, and Gordon would repeat the formula that October with Little Richard, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran.
